Lower Cliff
RhyoliteThe lower cliff had a lot of red, blocky rocks which are a typical sign of volcanics. This is welded rhyolite tuff with examples of root wedging and organic acids.

Middle Bench
Volcano Type
StratovolcanoThe type of volcano which created these volcanic deposits must have been silica rich in order to create the quartz veins and rhyolite tuff.
It also must have needed to have a lot of gas in order to create the pumice. High gas and high silica content are characteristics of stratovolcanoes, suggesting that a stratovolcano created these deposits. |
