Depositional EnvironmentIn order for such rocks to form, the depositional environment must have been calm enough for the sand and clay sized sediments to settle while also allowing for the larger pebble sized sediments to mix with it.
A plausible environment is one of a stagnant lake which allows the sand and clay to settle while a river feeds into the lake, and thus allowing gravel to mix in. This would create such stones mentioned above. |
